There are several very good snorkelling sites around both islands. In Upolu there is the Palolo Deep National Marine Reserve offering some of the country’s best snorkeling. The Reserve is just around the corner from the wharf towards Vaiala Beach. It is open seven days a week from 7am to 6pm, and it is possible to hire snorkelling equipment. The best part of the Reserve is about 100 metres off-shore. A deep chasm in the lagoon is filled with colourful corals and many unusual marine fish. At low tide you can walk out to the ‘deep’ with reef shoes.

Lalomanu Beach

This is a very popular weekend spot at South-east Coast of Samoa where the clear water offers good snorkelling at high tide but don’t get too far out as there are strong currents near the break in the reef. If you want to experience a night in a beach fale there are numerous enterprises to choose from.

Namua Lagoon at Aganoa, Anapu is another beautiful location for snorkeling.

Matareva Beach

Matareva is a beautiful beach South Coast of Samoa where, like Aganoa Beach, waves break on the shoreline and snorkelling is quite good.

In Savaii, the beaches from Safotu to Manase are Lano, Faga, and Satuiatua, and they offer excellent snorkeling options off their coasts.
