Dubai certainly isn’t short of things to keep you occupied and entertained. A truly international city, Dubai has a wide range of activities for people of all ages. So from skiing to horse racing, from desert safaris to hot air balloon rides, there really is something for everyone.

Shopping
Dubai has now established itself as something of a shopper’s paradise, and once you look around, you will understand why. Aiming to become the world’s ultimate shopping destination isn’t an easy task, but with several large shopping malls and the biggest two malls in the world under construction, Dubai looks to have things covered.

And for those wanting a shopping experience with a little more culture, then you simply have to visit Dubai’s famous gold and spice souks in Deira. Built to reflect the traditional architecture of old, the souks are filled with a wide array of interesting things that will keep you interested for hours. And of course, don’t be afraid to haggle, its customary in order to obtain a good bargain.

Entertainment Parks
Wild Wadi- This ever popular park located next to the Jumeirah Beach Hotel includes 30 rides, and over 25 million liters of water. And for those feeling brave, be sure to try out the 33 meter high slide, of which you can expect to reach speeds of 80km per hour! Then there is also Breakers Bay, a wave machine producing 1.5 meter waves all day long. If its fun you are after, then Wild Wadi certainly fits the bill.

Wonderland- Another Dubai based entertainment park covering some 18 hectares. Offering a large number of rides, you can expect speed slides, wave runners and a Caribbean Cruise. An ideal place to go with all the family for some fun.

Desert Activities
Only a short ride away from the city, the desert offer a whole range of activities and sports, as well as providing the opportunity to see another side of Dubai and to learn a little more about Arabic culture. There are numerous different types of activities which you can undertake, some more adventures than others.

Dune Driving- Dune driving, perhaps not for the faint of heart, is a thrilling yet challenging activity, where the driver must stay mobile on the ever shifting surface of the sand dune. Not easy, but certainly fun!

Wadi Driving- Not quite as extreme as Dune driving, Wadi driving or Wadi bashing involves exploring the dry river beds of streams that only flow after the rainy seasons. Typically done in a 4 wheel drive, you can expect to see beautiful scenery, rock pools and great mountain views.

Camel Riding- Camels have long played a pivotal part in the traditional Arabic life style, and many tours will provide the opportunity for you to hope on one and take a ride.

Sand Skiing- An interesting take on an already popular activity, sand skiing is also great fun. Heading out into the desert in search of the larger sand dunes which provide the best runs, you can expect to use special skis or sandboards to tackle the slopes. All in all, a great way to spend a fun half day.

Desert Safari- This can vary enormously depending on your wishes and preferences, with both a fun packed day of entertainment and romantic and serene outing both possible. Most finish with taking in a sunset and then onto a traditional Arabic barbeque and entertainment to complete the evening.

Racing
Camel Racing- Now very much back in favor, camel racing is something all visitors to Dubai should come and enjoy with the season beginning around October time. With a number of tracks around the city, you can witness this traditional Arabic sport, which always attracts the local population as well as tourists.

Horse Racing- Most people will have heard of the Dubai World Cup race, held here annually it is richest horse race in the world, attracting world wide media coverage, as well as celebrities from all over the globe.

With so much going on all around Dubai, why not take to the skies to explore it all from a different perspective.

Helicopter Tours- Whilst a little pricey, these tours are worth it, allowing you to get that little bit closer and enjoy all the best views of the city. Tours typical last in the region of an hour.

Hot Air Ballon Rides- Proving a unique perspective of Dubai, allowing you to rise above all the noise and commotion to enjoy the peace and sense of freedom that can only be gained from such a vantage point.

Go Karting- With a 40,000 sq. ft air-conditioned track, the first of its type in the Middle East, you would be missing out to not come here and give it a try. In addition there is also an outdoor track for use between October and May.

Fishing- It’s easy to get hold of a boat and arrange a day long fishing excursion. A good way to explore the Arabian Gulf’s rich marine life.
